Dear Billet-cool!
I recently bought a 2000 Buell X1 Lightning, and have done a couple of
the most popular performance modifications to the exhaust and ignition
systems. The bike is ridden through the heavy stop-and-go Silicon
Valley commute a couple of times a week, (about 240 miles), and is used
for some high-performance riding on the weekends. Because of the
performance modifications and the traffic, I thought an oil cooler
would be good insurance. The traditional air/oil coolers were bulky
and did not have the clean OEM appearance, and also required the added
complexity and weight of hoses, adapters, brackets and fasteners. I did
a lot of research and came across your Billet oil cooler. The
Billet-cool oil cooler looked clean, and with the powder coated body
and polished fins, fit right in with the rest of the bike. It looks
completely stock! The heat sink concept is elegantly simple, I
thought, but does it really work? I was pleasantly surprised. After a
long commute of over one hour and 60 miles of stop-and-go traffic, and
occasional sprints to the 65 mph limit, I was able to comfortably grasp
the oil filter without discomfort. Before the oil-cooler was
installed, the oil filter was too hot to touch. I am impressed with
the Billet-cool product, and would unconditionally recommend it to
anyone looking for a clean oil-cooler for a Buell X1!
Sincerely,
Pierre Lewald
